Der Ort

Lajares ist sehr beliebt bei Surfern. Mittlerweile gibt es mehrere Cafés, Bars und Restaurants, Surfshops, Board- und Radverleih, Boutiquen, eine Apotheke und einen Supermarkt. Style: Surf bis Hipster (neuerdings). Insgesamt braucht man auf Fuerteventura keine schicke Kleidung. Shorts und Flip Flops reichen für alle Gelegenheiten. Zu den Stränden von El Cotillo und Corralejo fährt man jeweils ca. 15- MInuten. Corralejo insbesondere ist sehr belebt mit Shopping und Bars. Ebenso ca. 15 Minuten braucht man nach Villaverde wo es zwei sehr gute Restaurants gibt. Zum Flughafen in Puerto del Rosario sind es ca. 40 MInuten. 

EL GOLOSO

ist der Name der französische Bäckerei. Insgesamt gibt es drei Filialen: ein Café in El Cotillo, sowie ein Café und ein Stehcafé in Lajares (letzteres ist das beliebte Original - es hat nur noch am Vormittag geöffnet). Der Kaffee ist gut, die Croissants und Mini-Tartes sind superb. Die schönen Törtchen kann man mitnehmen zum Strand (#Marie Antoinette, #blessed). Auch das Brot ist sehr gut. Pan de Nueces z.B. schmeckt prima und hält sich für zwei Tage. Wer belegte Brote kauft, sollte eine Dose mitbringen oder auf eine Papiertüte bestehen - man bekommt sonst ein Bocadillo im Klumpen Alufolie.

is the name of the French bakery. There are three branches: one coffee shop in El Cotillo and a large and a small coffee-shop in Lajares. The large one just opened recently, the small one - the original - is only open until noon. The coffee at El Goloso is good, the croissants and tartes are superb. Do not hesitate to bring those tartes along to the beach. Makes you feel a million bucks. Their bread is also very good. Especially Pan de Nueces is delicious and will keep for two days. If you get a bocadillo to go, you might want to bring a container or ask specifically for a paper bag, otherwise it will get packed in a massive lump of aluminium foil.

CAFETERIA EL ARCO

ist nur tagsüber offen. Es gibt Sandwiches und Burger und frische Säfte. Soweit ich weiß, haben sie sogar frisch gepressten Weizengras Saft. 

is only open during daytime. A good place for burgers, sandwiches and juices. I believe they offer fresh wheatgrass juice, which is a rareity.

PIZZERIA CANCELA

ist eine Familien-Pizzeria mit viel Betrieb. Es gibt gute Holzofen-Pizza (auf keinen Fall sparen mit dem Chili-Öl!) und auch die anderen Gerichte sind gut. Vorbestellen ist sinnlos. Am besten nicht völlig ausgehungert hingehen, dann an der Bar vorsprechen und sich auf die Warteliste setzen lassen. Gleich noch ein Glas Wein bestellen und gemütlich draussen warten. Die nette Besitzerin hat ein wachsames Auge und meist dauert es nicht länger als 15 Minuten. 

is a busy and kids-friendly Pizzeria. While they have great ovenbaked Pizza (do not skimp on that chili oil!) their other dishes are good as well. We learned that making a reservation for a table is pointless. Just go (without beeing half starved), give your name at the bar for the waiting list, order a nice glass of wine and wait outside. The friendly and observant owner usually will find you a spot in about 15 Minutes.

MANAY CAFÉ

Sehr beliebt und nett für kleine Snacks am Tag oder für einen Aperitiv am Abend - die Tapasplatte ist günstig und lecker.

popular among residents, great for breakfast or a snack during the day or a drink in the evening. The tapas platter is super affordable and yum.

LA PANETECA

Ebenfalls sehr beliebtes Café, eher für tagsüber für Frühstück und Snacks,. Sie haben sehr gutes Brot im Verkauf (Sauerteig) und frisch gepresste Säfte, Salate etc. Man sitzt schön und kann den Trubel im Ort beobachten.

also a very popular hangout for residents and tourists alike. More though during daytime. It’s opposit of Manay and on sunny side of the the street. They sell very good homemade bread (sour dough) and they freshly make a variety of pressed juices as well as salads etc. Nice for people watching.

LOS PIRATAS

hatte gerade Pächterwechsel und ich bin mit der aktuellen Küche noch nicht so vertraut. Beim ersten Test war es nicht so dolle. Es gibt nach wie vor aber Fussball, einen Grill und kanarische Küche. Wir sollten es weiter testen.

they just changed owners and I am not so familiar with the current kitchen. Our first test was not that great. However, they still have Soccer on TV and a big grill outside. Let's test some more.

LOS PINCHITOS

authentisch kanarisch, schon lange dort, aber gerade frisch renoviert. Die Küche ist recht basic aber dafür ist die Stimmung gut und die Preise moderat. Etwas für normale Abende, an denen man nicht kochen will.

authentic canary cuisine,. The restaurant was recently renovated. The food is mostly basic but the athmosphere is nice and the prices are moderate. Good place for a casual evening out, when you just don't feel like cooking.

RETURN BAR

früher in deutscher, jetzt unter französischer Pacht. Ist in Laufnähe und besticht durch entspannte Atmo. Man könnte sogar im Schlafanzug rübergehen vermute ich. Es gibt ganz okaye Burger, einen Billard-Tisch und auch Fussball Übertragungen.

previously owned by a German now under French ownership. It's a five mins walk from the house and it has a very casual vibe. It's that kind of place that you could got to in your pyjamas and nobody would bat an eyelid. They got friendly service and good burgers. You can play pool and, on occasion, watch soccer.

LA VACA LOCA

ist die kleine Boutique direkt neben dem Los Pinchitos Restaurant. Steffi, die deutsche Besitzerin und ihr italienischer Mann verkaufen Sachen aus Wolle und sonstige Geschenke. Einige der gefilzten Sachen sind etwas weird, aber die gestrickten Kinderpullover sind sehr süss. Außerdem gibt es Ziegenmilch-Seife und gute Aloe-Produkte. Auch die Bikini-Bags meiner Freundin Saskia werden dort verkauft.

is the small boutique next to the Los Pinchitos Restaurant. Steffi, the German owner and her Italian husband sell a selection of woolen products as well as other small gifts. Some of the felted objects are a bit colourful, but I find the knitted baby pullovers super-cute. They also have goatmilk soaps and good Aloe products. My friend Saskia's Bikini Bags are also on sale there.
